First day of Summer break....and some dressmaking...sort of...
Today we went over to Benningbrough Hall and Gardens. It was lovely to walk through the gardens and tour the house. After a bit to eat the girls got to go design a costume that they created using inspiration from the period costumes shown there. They had to draw a design first then make the costume from paper, and other items available in the room. Tape and stick glue were the only things to use to hold the pieces together. Belle decided to do a dress. Here are the girls with their designs and finished products. Belles is the blue/red dress. Didn't they do a fab job? If you want to see more about the costumes go to Belles Blog.
Belle's friend Alexandra did a hat to go with the dress and they both got photographed for the yorkshire press tomorrow. Here is a pic of the photographer setting up the shot. i loved how they were using a big frame to shoot through.
The girls had a great time all day with so mcuh to see and do. There was a beautiful teapot made from clay tiles and mini teapots some children had made..
There was also dressing up...
and having some art made from your picture...
and yes there were lovely gardens to walk through...
So now after that lovely inspiring day I am going to now head off to my craft room to do a bit of crafting. Have a lovely evening. Angela

Finally Finished....Sorry 'Ive been MIA
The books for the leaving kids are done...all 10 of them
and I finally finished the book for the teachers and teacher helper who were leaving as well as all the teacher gifts and some last minute request from the teachers and of course the stuff for the bake sale...whew! what a week. Of course I was in such a rush I forgot to take pictures of the final books and jewlery we made. They did turn out really nice and the the teachers really liked them. Especially the flower pin. Remember the one I made from the papers the kids did. The school gave me these beautiful flowers
and the kids from the class I help in gave me this wonderful card and some great crafting supplies.
I was so surprised and touched. They even got me to cry when the kids gave me the card. Some of the things they wrote were so sweet. So as you see it has been a very busy week and I do have to apologise for being MIA and not pulling the name for the candy. I will extend it until the 29 and pull the name on the 30th. I have been getting all the comments but have not had much time on the computer till now so I will be catching up this week. Hope you have a wonderful day and thanks for hanging in there with me. On a roll...ATC swappers July swap
Yesterday was a busy day, I was able to spend some of the day(part of it I had to catch up on cleaning)working in my studio. I got most of my ATC's for swaps done after many trial and errors on what I wanted to do here is the first batch for ATC Swappers July swap where the theme is seeing quadruple. We had to create 4 of the same cards for any theme we wanted. I chose beach since it is summer.
I used glossy paper to start with. I then stamped the image(Stampin up- I loved these images)using stazon black. Next the background was inked using Faded jeans distress ink. Once dry I used bleach to remove the colour from the body(head, hands and shirt) and added colours using old paper, brushed cooduroy, barn door and faded jean. Here is a closeup.
finally I added my sand mix(no it is not really sand)to the card, placed the shells in and a bit of glossy accents mixed with faded jean as the water. the seaside word is hand written. My posting for the stampman ATC challenge can be viewed here. (did not want to put too many postings in a day here) Hope you have a wonderful weekend. Angela

One down and many more to go.
Do you remember that pile of papers the kids did yesterday that we are making into a flower pin for the teacher?
Well here is the flower I put together from it.
The kids cut most of the papers into heart shapes with a rounded bottom. I cut the ones for the children that could not. They were in sizes from small to large(Y2 large, Y1 Meium and reception small. I inked all the edges with distress ink, then I stacked them all in sizes and punched a hole in the bottom. Each was then placed on a brad decorated side down(towards top of brad)small to large. Fasten the brad and fan out the petals. Scrunch and add pin on bottom then you are done. I kind of liked how it turned out and the best part is that all the kids contributed a petal they made into it. When I was having them make the petals I tried to have them each use only one colour with the stamping but that did not go over well and I was terrified it would be to busy but it isn't. If you look close you can even see some of the artwork some of the kids drew. Hope you like it. Now back to start on my ATC's. Have a wonderful day. Angela

What was I thinking???
Thank you to everyone who has stopped by, left comments and become followers.Your comments are greatly appreciated and loved. Sorry I have been a bit MIA but between still trying to read all the blogs for "Where Bloggers create" and being at the school Mon, Tue and wed, then after school activities and all there really has been no time left. I do not know how people already made it through all the 400+ blogs involved in the Where Bloggers Create blog party the Karen over at My desert Cottage organized. As I like to take my time looking I guess it takes me too long for each one. But I will finish them I promise but for now I must get back to current projects.
This is all the stuff I collected at school today to work on an album for a teacher who is leaving. The kids did thumb print pictures as well as watercolor pencil drawings and flower petals. We are adding sections for each class she worked with. Now to organize the whole thing and add the pictures. I will post the completed project next week sometime. The picture below is papers decorated by the students that I am making into a flower for the teacher. I will also post that when completed. for now it is all in my head(scary thought).
Tomorrow is a full day dedicated to crafting so I will be working on a new how to post as well as beginning these 2 projects and of course starting and completing my monthly ATC swaps. and If I get all that done there are always lots of challenges I can start on. So keep you fingers crossed and wish me luck getting my to do's done. Guess I have a few minutes now I can start with....Have a wonderful night and see you tomorrow. Angela
ps, Don't forget my blog candy runs until the 15th of July. See the side post to enter.
