Stampotique Designer's Challenge 30

The challenge this week over at the Stampotique Designer's Challenge blog was Recycling. How could I resist. I am one to save everything and use most things. Here is what I started with.

Some used inky paper towels(used to wipe excess inks when using sprays and such with templates), A plastic box from coasters we purchased, some bubble wrap and some material scraps. First I cut the plastic and stamped my Stampotique Mermaid stamp with Archival ink. I then coloured the back with promarkers. I then painted over the back of it with white paint to make the colour stand out.

While that dried I layered and decoupaged on the paper towels onto a tag. I used the bubble wrap dipped in Dylusions Teal paint to stamp a bit on the tag. When both parts were dry I layered the plastic piece on top of the tag and added some glue dots covered in glitter. Finally I added a bit more of the paper towels in the corners and added the strips of scrap material coloured with promarkers as a tie.
I am entering this into the Stampotique Designer's Challenge 30

Now I found out at work today that it was one of the teachers birthdays tomorrow at school. So In between my crafting when I got home I was making some cakes for the class. The medium and small ones are chocolate sponge, the one to the left is vanilla sponge and the one in the center is Country apple cake(for the teachers). All I have to do now is slice and fill them then top them.

Unfortunately blogger has been having problems so I actually had this ready to post yesterday but it got deleted when blogger went down. I happened to save it to a file before moving out of the screen though so I did not have too much typing to go once it came back up. I definitely do not miss the days in MIS being on call 24 hours and having to fix problems when the system decided to go down. Does bring back memories though.......Now I am just a frustrated end user waiting for the system to be restored.
So now that this post is a day late I can tell you that the cakes went over really nicely. The kids loved them. Now I am off to catch up on 2 days of not blogging.
Thanks for stopping by and have a great day. Angela

Fabulous tag, just love the colours and the bits you have used to make it are amazing.
I remember cake days in school, always a treat and go down well. I actually went into my old school yesterday as it was the caretakers 65th birthday - so I had to take him a card and some bubbly. It was lovely to see some my old staff and children again, I do miss it.
have a great weekend. thankyou for your lovely comments on my posts.
luv and hugs {brenda} xoxox
