Lets Get shabby Colour Challenge # 11

Lets Get Shabby Challenge "IT'S ALL ABOUT COLOUR!!" Here is the sypnopsis for this months challenge:

Here in Australia at the moment its Autumn!
And maybe where you live its Spring!!
Either way, look at this incredible Quilt.
Be inspired however you like....it would be nice to see you include some fabric somewhere.
and the quilt picture they gave for inspiration.....

So here is my take on the whole challenge. the colours are showing a bit duller in my photos than actual . I am having a bit of a problem with my camera since my daughter dropped it down the stairs. the zoom is broken too so closeups are not great. I also had a bit of a problem with Blogger uploading the photos. Some of them are turning when they shouldn't. Sorry for the problems.

I made a fold out display with a hidden fold out mini album.
The flowers and leaves are made from fabric and the picture was printed on a canvas then sewn to a fabric frame. The flower centers are brads from Basic Grey. the pins and butterfly brads are unknown as they were parts of misc kits I bought. the blue butterflies are EK Success and the lace and trims are from my stash.
I really like the way the door came out. I used layers of paper then coated it with Distress Crackle paint and inked it when dry. the little wreath is inked wired with flowersoft. The door knob is a upultry tack while the key is from my misc charms box.
When the door is opened it pulls out the first side of the mini album. I used papers from KI memories and Cosmo cricut. the flowers are sut from Anna Griffen papers and the butterflies from misc science cards and cupcake holders. I originally had used Prima flowers with jewels and pearls throughout but the book no longer folded properly so that had to be modified. I do like the outcome though. All the lace trim is cut from paper scraps using a Fiskars Border punch. Here is the other side with a little lace handle to pull it out. I am not sure why but Blogger keeps flipping this pic and the one after it sideways. It looks fine on my computer but everytime it uploads it flips. Sorry for the technical difficultes.
The Center of the pullouts holds the rest of the saying. Behinnd the brown paper background here is a hidden pocket that will be used for a letter my daughter is writing to her Grandpa. The letter will slide in behinde the picture an the brown background paper.
Then it all closes up nicely. I had this wonderful box I wanted to use and with Fathers day around the corner I decided to make this project for my dad. I also found this wonderful saying on one of my papers from Cosmo Cricut.."If Things never changed ...There would be no Butterflies." which I used as part of my inspiration throughout the project. I tried to use some blues and rust reds throughout for a nice rich colour scheme and to follow the brief given or at least my interpritation of it. Hope you enjoy it. I know my dad will love it he always does. I would like to thank everyone for their wonderful comments over the past months and as always they are greatly appreciated. Have a wonderful end to the weekend. Angela
