Try it on Tuesday challenge

It's time for another challenge this fortnight over at Try it on Tuesday and the new theme is "Easter Bonnets/Hats. I decided to make this Alice in Wonderland inspired hat. That movie reminds me of Easter for some reason. My hat is made from paper then painted with layers of paint and crackle before being embellished with lots of G45 cut outs and various flowers and such.
The hat is decorated all around so no matter which way it faces you always see something.
I got the little mushrooms at The Artsy Soul shop in Manahawkin. I thought they would be a perfect accent on my hat.

Now its your turn to go to the Try it on Tuesday challenge blog and let us see your project. You can enter our challenge here.

Our sponsor this month is Crafty Emblies.

Sorry I am a bit late in posting this fortnight. It has been a crazy weekend. We lost power for about 12 hours  this weekend in the hotel we were at for a dance convention for my daughter.  everything ran later and we got home alot later than expected. It was however a weekend to remember.

Thanks for stopping in and have a fabulous day!
Enjoy the sun if you have any.....

My little fairy doll.

I have been taking a doll making class for the last 2 days at The Artsy Soul. Here is the little fairy doll I created from scratch(She really does have hands they are just hidden by the skirt.. We got to mold the entire doll and put it together.

The face began with a tin foil lump and ball of clay. It was amazing watching the face come to life as we added layers of clay.
Lots of body parts we sculpted.
Time for sanding in layers from rough grain to smooth micro mesh for polishing.
Painting the face and body.
 Fitting it all together.
Wiring the arms and legs. We used bead caps and jeweled spacers.

Adding the hair and sewing the clothes.

Almost finished. I still need to paint her shoes and add her accessories.
It was a great class. Colleen the owner is a wonderful teacher with lots of great techniques to share. This was my first time taking a sculpting class and I can't wait to play again. I was lucky enough to take the class with my friend Zandra. Her fairy is so adorable and whimsical.

Here is Zandra with her doll and her doll below.

So thats what I have been up to. Hoping to play a bit more and finish her tomorrow.

Thanks for stopping in and have a lovely day.  Angela

TIOT new challenge

The new challenge is up at Try it on Tuesday and the theme is 'Its all about the eyes'.
So we want to see some eyes in your project.

This month we  have a new sponsor " Realy Reasonable Ribbons " who are generously  offering  a $15 gift voucher to our winner this month

For my project I made an ATC

The stamp is  from my "Across the miles" set from "The Stamp Man"  in England. The tree branches are made using a mix of  shrubbery stamps and branches. I also used  book pages and burlap. Some sparkle using a gel pen was added along with some glossy accents to the eyes.

Now is you hop on over to the Try it on Tuesday blog you can see some more great inspiration from my team mates and enter your project.

See you there!

New TIOT challenge

Its time for another challenge at Try it on Tuesday and this fortnights theme is "Hearts". Its perfect timing with Valentines day just around the corner. Here is my take on the challenge. I wanted to make a hat but time permitting I went with a layout instead. Maybe I will get to the hat today.  I used patterned paper(Prima), Paint(Dylusions), Crackle(TH), Tickets(TH), blue tule, charms and heart stickers(Basic Grey) and twine. The title is hand cut from paper. I used the Tule to create a sort of Valance at the top of the page by sewing and pulling up the tule in a few places then trimming with a bow. Don't know why I did it that way just felt like playing with it.

Now if you head on over to the Try it on Tuesday blog you can see some more great inspiration from my teamies and enter your project.

On another note I seem to have been very busy lately but I really cannot say with what. Time just seems to be flying by and I never have enough time to get everything done. I did manage to finally sort through my craft room again. It seems to have become a dumping ground for anything that needed to disappear quick over the holidays. I also managed to sort through and clean out my daughters crafting mess. What a job that was. It was nice to finally get back into an organized and tidy craft room this week. Well I think I will be off to do a bit of crafting now. I am really wanting to make another hat. Will post if I get it done later.

thanks for stopping in and have a wonderful day. Angela

New Challenge at Try it on Tuesday

Its time for another challenge at Try it on Tuesday and this fortnights theme is "Lets get Stitchy" and it can be real or Faux stitching. I chose to use Faux stitching in my layout.

I used faux drawn stitching on the canvas accents along with some faux stitching using staples.

Now if you head on over to the Try it on Tuesday blog you can see some fabulous inspiration from the rest of the team as well as link up your entry so we can stop by.

Now off to finish some more work. Thanks for stopping in and have a great day. Angela

Happy Christmas!

Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas. I know we did. It was so nice to have a bit of joy for a change.  We had a wonderful day here although a bit of snow would have been the topping on the cake.

Here is my project for the Stamp Mans Bleak Mid Winter challenge. It is an ATC.

I used the US Artquest Napkin collage kit for the bird. I just loved the images that came in the tin.
The tree stamp is from Tim Holtz Winter Sketchbook set. It is colored using Distress inks and white paint.

Now off to catch up in blog land and around the house.
Have a wonderful day.
