We have a visitor...

Well my husband managed to get this pic the other night. It seeems we have a nightly visitor in our garden. Sunflower say him first and tried to play with it so now we have to watch when she goes out. Isn't he cute? I have neve seen a hedgehog before except in a pet shop. I wonder how long he will stay around?????

Creative time

Between helping at the school 2 days a week and all the nice weather I have found it hard to sit indoors and create. There is so much to do in the garden and I absolutely love working with the kids. Today being rainy and gloomy was the perfect day for some creative time. I made this card for 2 challenges, Totaly Papercrafts Challenge # 13 (Recipe - 4 Embellies(4 flowers), 3 papers(yellow,Gingham,Clouds), 2 ribbons or lace(green and red bow) and 1 image)and Simon Says Stamp Blog Challenge - Buttons(in the flower), Bows(in the girls hair) and Bling(flowers). For my card I used cloud paper from Fancy pants designs. The gingham and yellow pattern papers are unknown as they came from my scrap bins. The image is from Sugar Nellie and the flowers and bling are Prima. The lace and ribbon bow are from my stash. I coloured the stamped image with watercolour pencils and Smooch ink. Doesn't she look cute painting the flowers ....only one left. If you like my work and would like to leave a comment they arevery much appreciated. thanks for peeping. Angela

Mussie Tussie May day swap.

This was a very hard swap as I had no idea how to make a mussie tussie. I had a general idea and went with that and I guess it turned ot ok. I liked it. above is what my Swap partner sent me... a beautiful mussie with lots of hand made flowers. I also received lots of fun little handmade stuff in the box too as you can see in the second pic. Below is a pic of the mussie I sent my partner along with some fun little stuff I sent to her too. I tried to make the mussie springy and vintage. I also made a little book since I knew she was a new grandma and the picture frame with the fairy was my second attempt at my doll making. I am stil getting the hang of that. The bird house was just something springy I made and the bird necklace is just simple. I picked up the magnet in a shop in Amsterdam and was hoping to incorporate it into the mussie somehow but it did not work.
Enjoy and have a great day. Angela

Lets get Shabby Challenge # 10 Easter

Well this is definately last minute and I hope it is in time.I had a bit of a problem getting the pics as the flash gets rid of some of the detail so at the bottom of the post I am adding a copy taken without flash a bit dark though. Between being sick, starting volunteering at the school ,easter and my own procrastinating... time has been short. This months Challenge at lets get Shabby was Easter. For me Easter is hard because it is a reminder of the last good days we got to spend with my Mom as a family outside of the hospital. My mom passed a few days past Easter four years ago now and it is still a tough time of the year. My original thought was to try and create a project with those pictures but they are not that great and I was totally stumped for ideas so I decided to use one of my favourite easter pics of Belle and work around that. I crackled and inked a frame using Tim holtz crackle and distress inks. I then glued the frame to multiple layers of pattern paper and lace rolling and tearing the edges on each. I added the misc Prima flowers and some petalsoft wires, lace and leaves. For a final easter touch I added one of my mulberry creations. It is a hand made chick with little wire feet. I think he is adorable. I tried to give it that vinatage feel a bit so I hope it worked. thanks for looking and if you are so kind to leave a comment they are greatly appreciated. Have a wonderful day. Angela

Totally Papercrafts Week 11 Challenge

Getting back to the swing of things was harder than I thought. I was beind in finishing my swaps and getting other work done so that finally left today for a challenge. Here is my card for Totally papercrafts Week 11 Challenge. The theme was Distressing....yeah right up my alley. I love distressing. Especially this technique. It takes just 3 distress inks some paper and an edge distressow. I used old paper, walnut and Black soot. Crumple and distress the edges then using the lighter colour cover the paper(I used Old Paper) , With the Walnut rub the edges and slightly in then use the Black soot sparingly around the outer edges. I also used inkadinkado greeting stamps and crafty individuals bird frame stamp. The paper is snippets of cosmo cricut and the lace and ribbon are from my stash. the flower is just scraps of paper torn and distressed with the same ink then layered with a Basic grey brad. Hope you like it. Angela

It's been quite awhile.....

Well after suffering through the flu and other illnesses I am finally getting back into the swing of things. After missing most of the holiday period being sick we decided to take a short trip to Amsterdam via the ferry and then with such a beautiful weekend decided to visit some local gardens. I caputured a few pics to share. I am hoping to get back to some creative ventures tomorrow.
this guy decided to scare me as I was folding the laundry the other day. He was sitting on Daves Jeans. Guess its that time of the year again. This one was about 3 inches long with about 1.5 inch body. the glass bottom is about 3 inches across to give some idea.
this is a picture taken in amsterdam. I could not believe all the bikes. there were thousands of them. When crossing the streets you have to watch out for them more than the cars because they do not stop.
This picture was taken in Burnby gardens Pocklington yesterday. Belle had such a good time feedig the fish she could have stayed there all day and she did. I think we are going to call her the fish whisperer. Handfeeding the fish.....gotta love it.
This is a snapshot from Newby Gardens. the gardens were beautiful and not even in full bloom yet. the house was amazing. I cannot wait to go back when all the flowers are in bloom.
Well that is my quick update for now and I am hoping to post some projects tomorrow. If not tomorrow then Tuesday when Belle is finally back to school after Easter holiday. Have a great night. Angela
