Tuesday posting

Wow what great Scraplings we got to see from everyone last week and all so different from cute to Artsy they were all so Fab! A big thanks to all who played along. This week it is Altered Art week at Try it on Tuesday and the theme is "Dreams". This week we are sponsored by the Craft Barn.

For my project I chose to alter a clipboard I had laying around. I used Prima paper, White Dylusions paint, Promarkers, Misc script stamp, Aspects of design mesh stamp(from Christmas set), Technique Tuesday Eiffel tower upper letter stamps for title, Prima flowers and leaves, charms(misc), Tim Holtz grungeboard swirls, fabric scraps and this adorable old pic I had saved.

New card for Less is more

I have been following this challenge site "Less is more" where you are asked to make a simple clean card within the given criteria. This weeks challenge is to put your image in one of the squares of the card(4 corners and center). I chose to put my image in the bottom right corner.

For my card I used Tim Holtz Spring stamps and light and dark green distress inks to stamp the shrub and accented it with Smooch white pearl inks. The butterfly is part of my napkin collage kit and is decoupaged onto the card. I actually like how simple the card looks. I'm think I may have to partake in this challenge more often as it is a nice break in between more complicated projects.

I have a few other projects I also completed today but cannot post them as they are still drying. I will post them later in the week.

I did have all intentions of taking a pic of all the cakes I baked and posting it but as always I ran out of time and was packaging them for the bake sale at the very last minute. The Party in the playground went well on Friday. Thankfully we had decent weather with only a few sprinkles throughout the evening.

Here is a shot of some of the dancing with the band. They have this great Irish band that comes to play. There was lots of food, games and festivities all evening. Everyone had a great time.

Stampotique Designer's Challenge 31

Here is another project I finished yesterday. I was going to post it last night but my headache got the better of me so I decided to wait till today. The new challenge is up over at the Stampotique Designer’s Challenge blog and this week the theme is ACETATE. You have to use it in some way in your project.

Since I did a tag last week, this time I decided to make a scrapbook page using a piece of packaging for the background. I just cut off the sides and trimmed it to a 12X12 size. This is my first bit of Acetate in my project.

Above is the packaging I used as the base of the page.

Below I place and adhered my pictures as well as stamping in Stazon Black the Stampotique 3 girls image on my acetate.
Next I placed on my letters on the front side of the layout then I stamped in a line again with Stazon black using the feet of the Stampotique crafter stamp then I painted over it in white Dylusions. I also painted on the back of the stamped girls image using Dylusions white paint

While waiting for the paint to dry I added some more stamping using the hand and heart of the Stampotique crafter stamp. (I am limited in Stampotique stamps and try to stretch them where I can by using bits of the images and since this challenge calls for only Stampotique images I had to do that) Also on acetate you do not have to worry about masking because the bits you o not can be easily wiped off by rubbing a Promarker blending pen over the bit and wiping with a dry soft cloth. This is the before bit.
While leaving everything to dry I cut some bits of left over Acetate packaging(My second bit in the project) into some circles and ovals. I then coloured them with promarker(the leaves) and heated until crinkly. For the circles I heated them till they were wavy then I put them together with a brad and painted the center underneath with white and left to dry.

Lastly I cut and distressed my papers and added them to the back of the Acetate under the photos. I also added the tags and charms. the stars at the top are Eyelets and the white ribbon is threat through to create a wall hanging. I also edged the corners of the Acetate with Stazon to make them stand out a bit.

And here again is my completed page.

Now I am off back to my baking as I still have to make several cakes for the party in the Playground at the School tomorrow. It is a great event but I really(fingers crossed) hope it does not rain as it is outdoors. Hopefully it rained itself out today with all that rain.

The Stamp Man challenge #23

Challenge # 23 over at the Stamp Man is to use a Recipe Bingo. You had to select at least 3 ingredients and they had to be in a row (horizontally, vertically or diagonally)and make your project with those ingredients. I started by selecting Blue, Ribbon and Sparkle & Bling on the diagonal but then decided to go further and try and use all the ingredients.

So for my card I used:

Well my allergies are much better today although the headache is still hanging around a bit. Guess it just takes a bit of time.

Today I did not get as much done as wanted as it has been a crazy day, my lovely dog decided to go bonkers this morning and break a very special item of mine given to me by my mother many years ago. Aside from the regular cleaning I had to clean up all the glass and broken ceramic. (Sunny did not get cut). After that was done and I finished the wash I discovered that my darling daughter had hung wet clothes in her closet so everything had to be re-washed.......3 loads later finally some craft time.

Playing with Gesso

Over at the Craft Barn the Challenge is Gesso. There are some great inspirations from their designers on various ways to use Gesso in your projects. Now I have used Gesso as a primer before but that is about as far as I have gone so I was particularly intrigued by the dimensions and textures Andy got on some of his projects especially when adding elements under the Gesso. So i decided to give it a go. I can tell you that i am not too thrilled with the project and the technique. I guess it takes a lot of patience and layers. I may have put the Gesso on too heavy as it took a very long time to dry.

So for my project I used 2 mini canvas pieces and added the Gesso all over them. Next I added a layer of lace and went over it with Gesso mixed with Alcohol ink. the bits in the front are all from Tim Holtz(except the flower which is Imaginisce)I trimmed them and coated with Gesso then shadowed with my Promarker and glued in place.
I placed Tissue tape from Tim Holtz around the outside of the canvas and connected them to make them close together(Like a book). On the inside I used Gesso over the clock face and hands(Tim Holtz). On the other side I used another flower from Imaginisce and 2 Prima leaves and also painted Gesso over them. When dry I added some acccents with my promarkers and coloured the inside with my blue promarkers on the canvas. The wood on the inside is coloured with Walnut stain.

I have made this for the Gesso Wishing Well challenge at the Craft Barn. If I have some extra time this week I might try some more with the Gesso.

So now on another subject, They're Back!!!

This is one of the birds we have living in the eve by the front door. They have made the nest twice the size as last year so I wonder how many babies we will have this time. Last year we had 5 and 4. Yes they had 2 batches one right after the other. They are lovely to look at and very adorable until you see the mess they make. Especially since anyone coming to the door needs to watch out for an unexpected surprise or a birdie attack. But they are cute right.....

Well that is all I have for now. Not too much on the crafty front as I have been over taken by my allergies lately and my medicine is making me a bit tired. It is hard time even concentrating. I am hoping that they will be better tomorrow as the wind is supposed to die down a bit which should help. Fingers crossed........

Where does the time go?

I can't believe it is Tuesday again. Where does the time go? Well You know what Tuesday means....It's time for a new Challenge at Try it on Tuesday. This weeks theme was chosen by our teamie Carole. She has challenged us to make scraplings!

What is a Scrapling you ask? Its the bit of card you trim off to make a square card from an A4 sheet. I think it looks like a tag in a way. There is a link on the Try it on Tuesday site takes you to a blog where Scraplings are explained in detail.

So above you can see my scrapling. I added some embossing with clear EP and Tim Holtz sewing stamps on the background. It is then inked over using Distress stains then the whole piece it covered with perfect medium and embossed again with clear EP. Next I covered the entire piece with Fusible Webbing and heated. Finally I stamped Tim Holtz's Dress form stamp on top using Perfect Medium black and embossed with obsidian gold Moonglow EP. The final piece was then sewn and the lace, flower, mesh and pin added.

Cards using my napkin Collage kit from US Artquest

This weekend we were up in Skipton so Belle and I stopped in The Stamp Man for their open house. It was great to see everyone again. I got some fab stamps I have been admiring along with some much needed refill bits and more napkins for my napkin Collage kit from US Artquest. I so love this kit and I am loving playing with the pretty napkins both in the kit and ones I pick up here and there as well as stamping my own.These are some of the cards I played around with.

The one above used Tim Holtz sewing stamps, Promarkers, Plain and flower napkins, Distress ink, Distress stains and white/blue card.
This next card uses Tim Holtz Christmas, Bird branch and flower flourish stamps , Aspects of Design mesh stamp(Christmas set available from The Stamp Man)Bird napkins, Distress inks and white card.
My last one is an ATC and uses Lavender and blank napkins, Distress inks, Aspects of Design Butterfly stamp, Promarkers and Distress stains.

I have a few other things I am also working on but most of them are in stages because they require a lot of dry time. Lets just say may hands are covered in Gesso. I will post them in a day or so. Off to bed now since I am nursing a sinus headache and have to work tomorrow. Hope I can sleep a bit..... that would be a change. Maybe I will be up later.
